PURPOSE:To improve structural spalling of mainly a ladle for out-of-furnace smelting caused by the slag infiltration to a magnesia-chromium brick which determines the service life. CONSTITUTION:This magnesia-chromium brick is composed of a baked and electro-melted magnesia clinker containing 0.5-5.0wt.% of CaO and having a particle diameter range other than fine powder range and contains magnesia- chromium clinker, natural chromium ore, etc., as the other components. A remarkable improvement in the service life is observed by the use of this brick. The analytic results after the use reveal the remarkable decrease of the slag infiltration to suppress the generation of structural spalling and highly contribute to the prolongation of service life. |
