PURPOSE: To replace a windup reel without interrupting the winding-up of a web. CONSTITUTION: In a method of winding up a paper web or a board web using a drum windup machine, a belt F guide roll 21 is fed when a windup spool 11 is fed, together with a reel R, to a replacement position apart from a windup drum 10 to bring the reel R under winding into contact with the windup spool 11 so that the web W is supported and run on a belt F over the entire period of the replacement. Then, the guide roll 21 is fed to the replacement position together with the windup spool 11 so that the web runs through a nip part N3 between the guide roll 21 and the windup spool 11. The windup device includes the windup drum 10 and the windup spool 11, and the web W is set so as to be wound and run over the spool 11 through the nip part N between the windup drum and the windup spool. |
