<p>A process is disclosed for treating aqueous streams containing organics and/or phosphorus, which acts to significantly reduce the phosphorus content of the stream and/or remove biologically assimilatable organic material therefrom. The process selects assimilating microorganisms by establishing conditions in differential environments which enhance the assimilating functionality of the microorganisms and recycles the enhanced microorganisms to maximize their effect in reducing or removing organics from the process stream.</p> |
