COATED PHAFFIA RHODOZYMA YEAST AND GRANULATED SUBSTANCE THEREOF

PURPOSE:To obtain a granulated Phaffia rhodozyma yeast useful for fortifying both the coloring of the meat or skin of a fish or feathers of a red canary (a red variety of Serinus canarius) and the nutritive value by drying the yeast in the presence of a saccharide and stabilizing a carotenoid such as astaxanthin. CONSTITUTION:This granulated substance is obtained by drying a Phaffia rhodozyma yeast in the presence of a saccharide (sucrose, glucose, etc.) while protecting a carotenoid such as astaxanthin from the decomposition. The resultant granulated substance is good in granulation strength. The saccharide is present in an amount of about >=1wt.%, preferably about 5-40wt.% based on the dried yeast.
