PURPOSE:To produce graphitic hyperfine powder having properties of particles and >400m<2>/g specific surface area measured by a nitrogen adsorption method. CONSTITUTION:A carbon material is vaporized by arc discharge in a vacuum vessel kept under 2-19Torr internal pressure in an atmosphere of He, CO or a gaseous mixture of them and carbon vapor generated by the vaporization is solidified by cooling. |
