The automatic transmission has a pair of ravigneaux gears for changing speeds for three stages, and a secondary shaft and a differential gear mounted on the output shaft for changing the front wheel driving or the rear wheel driving. The transmission has a ravigneaux gear set(4), big/small sun gears(6)(7) arranged at the center line of the ravigneaux set connected with the input shaft(3); a ring gear(10) connected with the output shaft(5) having the parking gear. The transmission comprises primary/secondly intermediate clutches(C1,C2) for connecting the sun gears with the input shaft; a long pinion gear(9) engaged with the small sun gear(7) indirectly by the short pinion gear, connected with the primary brake(B) and the primary one-way clutch(F1).
