PURPOSE:To more perfectly and efficiently remove NO2 in exhaust gas by passing exhaust gas from which the greater part of NO2 is removed by the adsorbing treatment due to an NO2 adsorbent packed bed through an NO2 removing agent packed bed to selectively remove a fine amt. of NO2 remaining in the exhaust gas. CONSTITUTION:Ozone is added to and mixed with exhaust gas containing nitrogen oxide such as NO or NO2 within an O3/NO mol ratio range of 0.8-6 to oxidize NO to NO2 and this treated exhaust gas is passed through an NO2 adsorbent packed bed to adsorb and remove NO2. Subsequently, the exhaust gas passed through the NO2 adsorbent packed bed is passed through an NO2 removing agent packed bed based on a substance prepared by immersing at least one kind of a component selected from a group consisting of activated carbon, alumina, silica and titania and drying the impregnated one to remove residual NO2. By performing two-stage treatment as mentioned above, NO2 is selectively and efficiently removed from exhaust gas containing nitrogen oxide such as NO or O2 in low concn. |
