DATA RESTORATION TECHNOLOGY THAT AVOIDS ILLEGALITY CONVERGENCE STATE

PURPOSE: To avoid the occurrence of a false convergence state in an adapting circuit to be used for recovering data from a signal received from a communication channel. CONSTITUTION: The circuit adapts or changes a transfer function in response to a 1st error signal derived from a received signal. As a result of adaptation, the transfer function of the circuit settles on a converged state. An auxiliary information restoring circuit 103 receives recovered data and extracts auxiliary information from the received signal. In order to avoid the occurrence of a false state convergence problem, the circuit 103 provides a 2nd error signal, which allows an adaptation circuit to restart an adapting process at the occurrence of a false state convergence. In the disclosed embodiment, the adapting circuit is an equalized and the circuit 103 is a device for restoring framing information or an error correcting circuit. The circuit 103 is used for indicating the irregular convergence of the adaptation circuit when the circuit 103 can not suitably function.
