PURPOSE:To reduce the generation of waveform distortion and higher harmonic when a reactive power compensation capacity is relatively small. CONSTITUTION:The secondary winding 22 of a transformer 20 for lowering a voltage connected to a system base line 10 is provided with plural taps 22a, 22b and 22c switchable in multistage and one end of antiparallelly connected thyristors 61alpha, 61beta, 62alpha and 62beta are connected to the respective taps 22a, 22b and 22c and the same reactor 70 is connected to the other end of the antiparallelly connected thyristors 61alpha, 61beta, 62alpha and 62beta. The taps 22a, 22b and 22c are switched corresponding to the compensation capacity of reactive power and the phase of the thyristor is controlled. |
