The instructions for resetting to zero of the translation look-aside buffer associated with each processor are handled in several stages. Instructions are sequentially decoded and tested to see if any require resetting or updating of the buffer. The resetting or updating then proceeds if there are no similar requests, generated by another processor, held in a request register. The buffer is reset to zero, and a reset to zero signal is also delivered to the other processors as soon as the conditions for initiating the resetting are detected, rather than waiting for a completion flag from each processor. |
