The transporter has two parallel rails (1,2) which are arranged in a longitudinal direction and have a profiled form. Each rail profile has, positioned laterally on it, a feature designed to accept an edge strip (16). This edge strip guides the flat plate (14) of the transporter. The edge strip is made from a band of extruded plastics material and is engaged inside the feature arranged in the profile that is shaped as a groove. The edge strip has a protuberance formed as an arrow that locates inside the groove.
