<p>PURPOSE:To improve the delay performance and the interface performance with various equipments by applying cell multiplexing to frame information in a unique cell form, converting the information into data of an ATM cell form and multiplexing the data. CONSTITUTION:Data from terminal equipments 23a-23n are decomposed into cells from frames at a cell processing section 201 of a cell multiplexer 20 and multiplexed with cells of data from other terminal equipment at a cell multiplexer section 202 in a unique cell form whose cell length is shorter than that of an ATM cell form. The multiplexed data of the unique cell form are given to a cell multiplexer 21 via a communication line 231. The multiplexer 21 uses a cell form conversion section 211 to convert the received multiplexed data into data of the ATM cell form and a cell multiplexer section 202 multiplexes the data in the ATM cell form and the multiplexed data are outputted to a connection line 232. Thus, the cost is reduced, the delay performance is improved and the interface performance with various equipments is enhanced.</p> |
