<p>PURPOSE: To provide a method and network for providing the selection of an optimal printing device from plural printing devices being part of a network. CONSTITUTION: On a network, the list of optimal printer devices for printing the outputs of jobs arranged on a data processing system is provided to the data processing system. The request of the list of the optimal printer devices is generated in the data processing system at the time of starting a printing command. The printer devices on the network are mutually ranked based on a distance to a designated location on the network, relative speed at which the job outputs are printed, and adaptability of the printer devices with the job outputs. Then, the designated number of highly ranked printer devices are displayed as the optimal devices on the data processing system, and when the selection of the printer devices is received, the outputs of the jobs are transmitted to the selected printer devices for printing.</p> |
