PURPOSE:To provide a toner end detector capable of imparting a latitude of the setting position for a light emission part and a light receiving part. CONSTITUTION:In the toner end detector with an optical system in the image forming device provided with a developing device for making the electrostatic latent image formed in an image carrier visualizable, the means for replenishing the toner to the developing device and a toner cartridge for containing the toner, the light receiving element 7 and the light emission element 6 are provided and the light receiving element 7 is set at the outside part of the directive angle of the light emitted from the light emission element 6. The residual toner is detected by applying the scattered light from the small amount of toner 8 sticking to the toner cartridge 4 inside and the scattered light by the material of the toner cartridge 4. Then, the light receiving element 7 is set at the outside part of the directive angle of the light emitted from the light emission element 6, for performing the detection of the residual toner by applying the scattered light in the toner cartridge, and without restrictions by the setting position of the light emission element 6, therefore the latitude of setting is increased. |
