PURPOSE: To provide a compact and efficient image projection system. CONSTITUTION: A projection beam 11 supplied by a projector 3 is made incident on a beam splitter 7 assuming the form of a cholestric filter. The cholestric filter 7 reflects circularly polarized light radiation, which has a wavelength corresponding to the pitch of molecular helixes and has the direction of rotation corresponding to the direction of molecular helixes, to a reflector 9. Since the circular direction of polarized light reflected by the cholestric filter 7 is inverted by the reflector 9, this inverted beam 15 passes the cholestric filter 7 to reach a projection screen 5. |
