PURPOSE:To suppress hydrogen gas generation during discharge and provide a manganese dry battery in which hydrogen gas is scarcely generated during discharge. CONSTITUTION:Regarding a manganese dry battery having manganese dioxide as a positive electrode active material and zinc as a negative electrode active material, a tin compound such as stannous chloride is added to the inside of the battery. The added amount of the tin compound at conversion to tin is set to be at lowest 10ppm and at highest 3wt.% of the quantity of the electrolytic solution, especially preferably at lowest 100ppm and at highest 0.5wt.%. As a way to add the tin compound, a way to disperse the compound to the electrolytic solution, a way to apply the compound together with a binder to a separator, a way to mix the compound with a positive electrode mix, etc., may be employed. |
