PURPOSE:To obtain a method of manufacturing hexagonal ferrite particles which can be set high in uniformity, smaller in average grain diameter than a single magnetic domain, and high in magnetic characteristics even if coarse raw material is utilized or raw material is less mixed and ground before sintering to lessen the ferrite particles in manufacturing cost. CONSTITUTION:Hexagonal ferrite particles are manufactured through following processes, a first process wherein raw material powder composed of iron oxide powder and Sr and/or Ba powder is mixed together and ground and a second process wherein the mixture powder is burned, wherein a process wherein the mixture is thermally treated under certain conditions so as to produce an intermediate oxide phase richer in Sr and/or Ba than a final product and a second grinding process wherein the mixture partial in an intermediate phase is furthermore ground are provided before burning. |
