PURPOSE:To make it possible to conduct comparatively high temperature and high multiplicity and much contribution to bring a multiple wavelength optical recording system into practical use by forming a thin amorphous film of a compound using oxide glass as a host material and heat treating it to form a recording layer. CONSTITUTION:The recording layer is formed by heat treating the thin amorphous film of the compound comprising a rare earth element as a guest material and the oxide glass as the host material. The thin film is formed by melting 40 pts.wt. of boric acid and 58 pts.wt. of sodium carbonate together with 2 pts.wt. of samarium (III) oxide in a reducing atmosphere oven and cooling and solidifying it to form the oxide glass doped with samarium (II), and using this glass plate as a target, and forming a 0.2mum thick thin film on a silicon wafer substrate by the RF sputtering method. The optical recording medium is formed by annealing the thin film at 600 deg.C for 2 hours in air, thus permitting the obtained optical recording medium to realize enhancement of multiplicity. |
