PURPOSE:To provide a lithium ion secondary battery with high capacity, high initial charging and discharging efficiency, and excellent reversibility of lithium ion absorption-desorption reaction. CONSTITUTION:A lithium ion secondary battery is a battery provided with a positive electrode 4, a negative electrode 6 containing a carbonaceous substance which absorbs and desorbs lithium ion, and a nonaqueous electrolytic solution. The carbonaceous substance has 0.355-0.375nm average plane distance (d002) computed from a peak corresponding to the (002) plane of a graphite structure and analyzed by x-ray diffraction and 0.85 or less peak intensity ratio (R=IP2/IP1) wherein the IP2 and IP1 stand for the peak intensity near 1350cm<-1> and in a range from 1500cm<-1> to 1700cm<-1>, respectively, by Raman spectrometry with argon laser light with 514.5nm wavelength. |
