PURPOSE:To automatically and effectively exchange developer until the life of a main body expires without deteriorating the quality of an image without exerting an influence on image forming by exchanging the developer other than the image forming time. CONSTITUTION:A developer container 17 storing two-component developer consisting of toner and carrier is coupled with the upper part of a developing device 4 besides a toner bottle 13, and a developer container 18 is coupled with the lower part of the developing device 4. In the case of exchanging the developer, a developer supply roller 20 arranged in a replenishing port is slowly rotated except the image forming time, such as while standing by, so as to supply the developer in the container 17 little by little. It is good to supply the developer while performing pre-rotation or post-rotation besides standby time, in a word, while image forming processing is not performed. When the stored developer amount in the developing device 4 is increased by the supply of the developer, the level of the developer becomes high, and a part of the developer overflows to the outside of the developing device 4 through a discharge port 21, and is recovered in the container 18. |
