<p>A process and an installation for incinerating sludge or filter cakes with the production of cement clinkers, with the production of cement proceeding in a known manner by cement raw meal being preheated, calcined and burnt to form clinkers, after which the clinkers are cooled, and with the sludge being dried and, where appropriate finely divided, before the incineration. In connection with this process, a drying method is specified, in which method the quantity of drying gas which passes through the drying unit is reduced substantially. This is effected by supplying the drying unit - which can, for example, be a drying crusher or a mixing worm - with hot raw meal either from the preheater or from a separating cyclone which is arranged in connection with the calciner. In principle, there is no upper limit to the water content in the sludge which can be used for the process, and examples of utilisable sludge types which may be mentioned are sewage sludge, bleaching earth, paper sludge, oil sludge, reject fibres, combustible chemical residues, for example waste from nylon and pesticide production, drilling sludge from oil prospecting, and the like. <IMAGE></p> |
