Heat shield mounting for vehicle

The heat shield (2) is provided with cut-outs corresponding to threaded studs (4) fitted to the vehicle body. A two part plastic fastener (5) has a cylindrical body (6) to secure over the threaded stud and with an elastic flange (7) to locate against the outside of the heat shield. The cylindrical body has a ring shaped recess (9) open to the underside, to locate the second part (10) which has a second flange (12) to provide the spacer between the heat shield and the body. The two part fastener can be pre-assembled to the cut-outs in the heat shield and is secured to the stud by simple axial pressure. This allows a single operation to fit the heat shield. The cylindrical body of the fastener has an outer slot for a screwdriver to fasten and release the fastener.
