Soft-starting process for three=phase current or AC machine

In the process for soft-starting the AC machine, the machine is supplied with variable voltage and frequency from an AC generator (5) which itself is driven by an AC motor (3). This motor is directly connected to the mains through a circuit breaker. The connection between generator and machine is a long cable (6), possibly with one or more transformers. The cable may be a submarine one if the AC machine involved is used underwater. The motor may be a squirrel cage one or a slip ring one. It may be housed along with the generator in a common casing. There may be a gearbox or mechanical clutch between them. The motor and generator have the same number of poles.
