Method of manufacturing ditch wall reinforcement for large pipe installations

The ditch is continuously reinforced during excavation. Horizontal boards (3) are installed, vertical facing timbers (5) and first expanders (6) between pairs of timbers, are introduced as bracing. When the bottom (2) of the ditch has been reached, stronger vertical bracing struts (7) are installed in the bottom, parallel to the facing timbers. Pairs of bracing struts are supported on the horizontal boards via two upper and lower expanders (81,83). After the shuttering is completed, the base of the ditch is provided with a covering (9), which serves as bedding for the large pipes.
