A rubber mounting for mounting machine components or motor vehicle components comprises an elastomeric body (7) which is arranged between an outer sleeve (2) and an inner sleeve (5). The elastomeric body (7) is at least partially asymmetrical in relation to the axis of the mounting, the inner and/or outer sleeve being provided with regions which extend in directions inclined to the axis of the mounting so that on the application of axial force a relative radial displacement of the two sleeves (2, 5) takes place. An inclined region (1a) of the outer sleeve (2) is arranged to extend away from an adjacent end face (3a, 3b) of the outer sleeve (2) in a direction towards the middle of the mounting. This ensures that the mounting is compact and easily manufactured. The regions (1a) of the outer sleeve (22) are arranged so that the mounting functions in the same way regardless of its direction on installation. <IMAGE>
