In an electrophotographic printer having a print head (2) moved for spacing in a direction perpendicular to the direction of paper feed, the print head (2) comprises a an photosensitive drum (10), a transfer roller (30) disposed in opposition to the recording paper (1) over the platen (4), and a toner image bearing belt (20) passing around the photosensitive drum and passing between the transfer roller (30) and the recording paper (1) over the platen (4). Electrostatic latent image is formed on the photosensitive drum (10), and a toner image corresponding to the latent image is formed on the toner image bearing belt (20). The toner image is transferred to and fixed on the recording paper (1) at the location (3) where the transfer roller (30) presses the toner image bearing belt (20) against the recording paper (1). The print head (2) is moved for spacing while the transfer and fixing are taking place. A sequence of the toner images transferred to and fixed on the recording paper (1) form a desired print out of one line.
