PAIL SAFETY RING

A safety ring (6) for a pail (10) to prevent access to the contents of the pail (10) by a small child. The ring (16) is adapted to fit within and interlock with a pail (10). Preferably the safety ring (16) is assembled with the lid (2) for the pail (10), but is separable from the lid (2) once the lid has been attached to the pail (10), whereupon the ring (16) will remain in the pail (10) when the lid (2) is removed to expose the contents of the pail.
