1,141,891. Gable-top cartons. PHILLIPS PETROLEUM CO. 13 May, 1966 [14 May, 1965; 9 Aug., 1965; 10 Jan., 1966], No. 21426/66. Heading B8P. In a gable-top carton each of the ridge panels 56, 57, 70, 71 surmounting a fold-back panel 51, 52, 64, 65, has a length greater than half that of the ridge panels 102, 103; 73, 75 surmounting respectively the front roof panel 107, 108, and the rear roof panel 109, 110, 72, so that when the carton is closed folds 69, 55 either overlap or are forced together preventing leakage. A line of weakness 180 normally covered by a heat sealable tape (93), Fig. 6 (not shown), can be broken to form a spout, folds (190), Fig. 1 (not shown), (comprising parts 191 . . . 195) and 200 being segmented to provide a snap action when acting as fulcra for forming the spout. Chevron scores 210, 211 act as stress-relievers when a loaded carton is dropped. |
