The ball-head is supported in the housing (8) by a socket (11) opposite which is a thrust cup (3) with a central opening (7). The cup is supported at the rear by a face (2) on a cover (1) and whose curvature matches that of the ball-head. Compared with when assembled, the thickness of the cup when unassembled at its central supporting area (9) is greater than the distance between the ball-head and the face on the cover. In the unassembled state, the cover can curve to a greater radius than the external radius of the cup. When assembled, the cup is compressed so that the two radii are the same.
