The frame extensions consisting of hollow profiles of fibre reinforced plastics, which extend down inside the racquet shaft, are convex in cross-section (7) where they face each other. The intervening and surrounding space inside hand grip (10) is filled with shock-absorbing material, pref. thermoplastic e.g. polyurethane. Curvature of section (7) is pref. a circular arc and outer cross-section (8) is also convex but with a greater radius. Diameter Dy perpendicular to the racquet strings is pref. greater than diameter Dx parallel to the strings.
