Safety system for filling tanker compartments with potentially hazardous fluids from a tank farm

The filling hose from tank farm to tanker has a coupling on its free end, to mate with the fixed tanker coupling, which connects to one of its compartments. There is a shut-off valve in the tanker inlet fitting, with a controller dedicated to its actuation according to compartment level, among its other functions. To the fixed couplings (30a-f) of the tanker (12), are brought the free couplings (18a-18f) of the filling pipes (1-6); the latter carry markings (20a-f). There is a "reader" (34a-f) for these markings on each fixed connector on the tanker. The resulting signal is passed to the tank farm control device (28). A further transmission path (36) interconnects the control equipment (22,28) of the tank farm (10) and the tanker (12).
