The object of the invention is to provide a powered system for incorporating topdressing into the turf of golf course greens. The brushing system can be mounted on triplex mowers or other vehicles. The rotary brush (40) bristles touch the ground and sweep topdressing evenly into irregularities or aeration holes. A drive motor (38), sprocket (43) connects a circuitously installed chain (42) to driven sprockets (44) on the upper ends of vertical shafts (46). The shafts extend through the deck (26) to attach to the rotary brushes (40). The areas swept by the synchronously counter-rotating brushes (40) overlap. A second object of the invention is to remove the grain, or directionality, that characteristically develops in turf due to repeated mowing, traffic, and wear. The hangar system (24) or casters (36) can follow the terrain and reduce downward pressure on the brushes to allow frequent turf brushing.
|
