A double elastic webbing air bag comprising double weave fabrics joined together around the periphery of a hollow portion with a contact joining single weave belt for forming a bag body and having no coating applied thereto, said double elastic air bag satisfying the following (1) to (4); (1) the woven weave of a fabric A constituting the hollow portion of the bag body is plain weave and the cover factor K is in a range of 2000 </= K </= 2300, (2) a ratio qB/qA of the permeability qB of the other fabric B constituting the hollow portion when pressurized at 19.6 kpa to the permeability qA of the hollow portion A is in a range of 1 </= qB/qA </= 2.2, (4) an opening (6) to which a gas generator is mounted is formed in the part of the hollow portion B. This double elastic webbing air bag can be produced through simple processes, is improved to provide superior safety and expansion properties, and is light in weight and compact when stored.
