Cardboard sheets are delivered through a printing station 12 for printing a pattern of indicia associated with a number of carton blanks on an exterior surface of each sheet. The exterior surface is then varnished. The sheets then pass through a stamping station 25 to cut and crease each sheet to define a number of carton blanks with fold lines for each blank on the sheet. Each sheet is then passed through a stripping machine 39 which removes waste material from an internal portion of each sheet. Downstream of the stripping machine, waste at a periphery of the sheet is subsequently stripped away. The carton blanks may then be delivered to a packing station 40 or prior to packaging delivered through a folding and gluing machine 41 for forming the blanks into cartons.
