PURPOSE: To improve the stability of dyes for a long period of time by using dyes represented by a specific formula as a dye for a dye donor layer covering a flexible substrate and to obtain a fluorine-containing arylazoaniline dyes that are useful in thermal transfer systems. CONSTITUTION: In the thermal transfer donor sheet, a flexible substrate is covered with a dye donor layer containing dyes. In this case, dyes represented by the formula as shown separately is used, wherein R<1> is 1-20C alkyl group or hydroxy 1-20C alkyl group, R<2> is hydroxy 1-20C alkyl group or 1-20C alkylene-OC(O)NH-1-20C alkylene-CO(O)-R<4> group, R<3> is F or CF3 . This dye is stable under ambient conditions for at least about 6 months. On the other hand, a yellow or orange-colored image formed by the thermal transfer method wherein this dye is used exhibits excellent contrast and optical stability. |
