PURPOSE: To form a tool carrier in a linear short structure and to make the support structure of a milling head extremely firm by setting the angle between a swivel axis and a machining axis to an acute angle. CONSTITUTION: The angle between a swivel angle and a machining angle is set to an acute angle of 30-60 deg.. The cutting edge of a milling head 6 is located at a relatively short distance from a swivel bearing, and a tool carrier 4 has a linear short structure. The support structure of the milling head 6 becomes extremely firm, and the deformation of the tool carrier 4 impairing machining accuracy is minimized. The tool carrier 4 is swiveled downwardly and apart from the vertical plane where a work fitting base 10 having a work 11 lies toward a column 1, thus the danger of a collision is practically reduced. |
