PURPOSE: To provide the mutually operated transmission for an automobile with multiple-speed ratio with the minimum size, weight and rotational inertia matched with a desired torque capacity. CONSTITUTION: This has the coaxial input shaft 12, output shaft 14 and intermediate shaft and a counter shaft 18 is provided in parallel with the input shaft drivably and connectingly. Multiple pinion and gear pairs are supported on these shafts while matching with each other. A planetary gear unit 98 contains a sun gear 104, ring gear 100, carrier 108 and a planet pinion 106 supported to the carrier and meshed with the sun gear and ring gear. A synchronizer drivably connects the member of pinion gear pairs to one of the shaft. A shift mechanism transmits the motion of a shift lever 122 to a shift fork and moves the synchronizer sleeves 58, 70, 84, 112 so as to engage with a selected gear. |
