PURPOSE:To provide a gasket for low temperature which is inexpensive and has performance no less superior to that of a fluorine polymer material by manufacturing a gasket from a polymer compound of characteristics of forming an optical anisotropic melting phase. CONSTITUTION:A polymer compound of characteristic of forming an optical anisotropic phase to be used as a gasket is called a thermotropic liquid crystal polymeric compound. A continuous sheet monoaxially stretched in the extrusion direction of the sheet is prepared from the thermotropic liquid crystal polymer compound, for instance, by the extrusion method from a T-die. The sheet thus prepared is punched into the O-ring shape to manufacture a gasket. Various kinds of fillers, particularly an inorganic filler are contained in the thermotropic polymer compound in the gasket for the purpose of improving the strength of a molded product. |
