PURPOSE:To obtain an ink jet recording method which improves an image quality of a highlight part and enables recording with a high density, by feeding a minimum amount of energy per unit time to discharge liquid drops when a minimum pixel is to be formed and discharging liquid drops by means of a discharge signal instructing a larger amount of energy at other cases. CONSTITUTION:A first ink drop to form a first pixel which is the smallest on a sheet is discharged by the application of a preliminary signal PR1 and a discharge signal 11 (A), and a second-a fourth ink drops are discharged respectively by tone application of a discharge signal P12 accompanying a plurality of preliminary signals PR2 (B-D). A discharge volume of the first ink drop can be smaller than that of the second-fourth ink drops, and therefore a pixel by the first ink drop is made smaller than a pixel, for example, solely by the second ink drop. Even the largest fourth pixel can be formed to be approximately equal in size to that obtained when the signal of (B) is used. A graininess at a highlighted part is suppressed and an image of a high density is obtained at a high density part. |
