PURPOSE:To prevent misdetection of frosting even when an external disturbance occurs, by a method wherein fluctuations of temperature inside a room is monitored to recognize the occurrence of a disturbance caused by window opening action and combination use of another heating equipment, and an initial maximum value used for detecting of frosting is corrected to a value to which changes caused by external disturbance is taken into account. CONSTITUTION:A microcomputer 24 mainly consists of a central arithmetic device 25, a memory 26, a timer 27, art input circuit 28, and an output circuit 29. Outputs of a room temperature detector 22 and ant indoor heat exchanger temperature detector 23 are converted to digital signals by an analog/digital converter 30 and input to the input circuit 28 of the microcomputer 24. In addition, outputs from a remote controller 31, by which changeover of cooling and heating operations and an on-off timer are set, are connected to time input circuit 28. On the other hand, a four-way valve 3, a compressor 10, a fan 15 and other load 32 are connected to the output circuit 29, and the four-way valve 3, the compressor 10 and others are controlled by the computer corresponding to the operation state.
