STEEL CORD FOR REINFORCING RUBBER ARTICLE, ITS PRODUCTION AND PNEUMATIC TIRE USING THE SAME

PURPOSE:To obtain a steel cord for reinforcing a rubber article of a three-layer laid structure capable of improving the corrosion resistance and productivity in spite of the maintenance of a high cord strength and good fatigue resistance which are advantages of a multilayer laid steel cord. CONSTITUTION:This three-layer laid steel cord for reinforcing a rubber article comprises a core 1 composed of two wires, an intermediate sheath composed of 6 wires wound around the core and further an outer layer sheath 3 composed of 11 wires wound around the intermediate sheath. In the steel cord, the ratio (ds/dc) of the diameter (ds) of the wires in the outer layer sheath to the diameter (dc) of the wires constituting the core is within the range of 1.15-1.5 and the laying pitch of the core is >=20mm.
