1,071,831. Washing machines. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. June 10, 1965 [July 8, 1964], No. 24518/65. Heading D1A. [Also in Division F1] In a washing machine a reversible motor 23 drives an agitator 17 and a perforated drum 11 through a clutch 24, a belt 25 and a transmission assembly 26. The motor rotates in one direction to cause the agitator to oscillate for washing and rinsing, and in the other direction to cause the agitator and perforated drum to rotate at high speed for centrifugal extraction of water. During washing and rinsing a pump 35 (see Division Fl) draws water through an inlet 36 at the bottom of tub 13 and discharges it through outlet 38, conduit 41, nozzle 42 and filter 34 back to the drum and tub. During centrifugal extraction the pump discharges through an outlet 39 to a drain. Hot and cold water is delivered to the drum and tub through conduits 29, 30 controlled by a valve 28 operated by solenoids 31, 32.
|
