PURPOSE:To prevent a stapling mistake based on a mode selection mistake of the like so as to automate optimum stapling by setting a staple mode on the basis of an image formation mode and controlling a stapling process. CONSTITUTION:A stapling means, in which a bundle of sheets postprocessed by a sheet postprocessing device 400 is stapled at plural points by means of the predetemtined stapling member, is provided with a staple mode selection key which selects either of the first staple mode in which binding is carried out at plural points or the second staple mode in which stapling in other than the first staple mode is carried out. However, the first staple mode is automatically set no matter how the staple mode selection by the staple mode selection key is, when a staple mode setting means (CPU801, CPU1001) set a staple mode on the basis of an image formation mode set by an image formation mode setting means (a group of keys 600), so that a binding process is carried out in the bundle of sheets without any stapling specifying mistake. In this way, optimum stapling can be automated. |
