<p>PURPOSE:To provide a thickness detector, which can automatically detect the thickness of an image forming medium. CONSTITUTION:A detecting means 51 has a light emitting part, which emits detecting light, and a light receiving part, which sends out the distance signal corresponding to the incident position of the reflected light that is different depending on the presence or absence of an image forming medium. An operating means 52 obtains the thickness of the image forming medium in the detectable region of the detecting means 51 based on each distance signal from the detecting means 51. These means are provided. With this constitution, the thickness of the image forming medium located in them detectable region can be automatically detected. This detector can contribute to the improvement of flexibility in correspondence when the image forming media having the various kinds of the thicknesses are used.</p> |
