A process for making a laminated fabric comprising a filler ply and, on at least one side of it, a ply of fabric, with one or more of the plies containing material exhibiting a dielectric loss, comprises placing the plies in contact and dielectrically welding the resultant structure so that the whole is united through direct bonding between plies as a result of the heat and pressure. Dielectric loss is defined as being # tan 8 where # is the dielectric constant of the material and tan 8 is the power factor in the fibres. Specified fabric plies are woven or knitted fabrics of nylon alone or in admixture with viscose, linen or cotton. Specified filler plies are in the form of a fibrous web, a fibrous non-woven structure or a plastic foam, suitable fibres being of nylon and suitable foams being polyvinyl and polyurethane foams. The welding may be in the form of seams or overall. |
