1,072,953. Photographic dichromatesensitizing process. RADIO CORPORATION OF AMERICA. June 1, 1964 [June 4, 1963], No. 22553/64. Heading G2C. A uniform or patterned layer of particles in a binder is deposited on a substrate by applying a layer of a mixture of the particles in a polyvinyl alcohol binder on to the substrate, sensitizing the layer with a dichromate solution, exposing the layer uniformly or to a pattern and developing the layer by washing off any unexposed areas with water, the solvent for the dichromate solution being a mixture of a liquid in which polyvinyl alcohol is soluble such as water and a liquid in which polyvinyl alcohol is substantially insoluble such as methyl or ethyl alcohol, isopropyl alcohol or acetone. The particles may be zinc sulphide, zinc-cadmium sulphide, lanthanum phosphate or calcium magnesium silicate phosphors for cathode ray-tubes, or carbon particles.
