PURPOSE: To provide approximately equal pedal characteristic lines whether a normal brake or an auxiliary brake is being operated. CONSTITUTION: A spring 63 cooperating with an intermediate piston 55 is formed as a spring for a displacement simulator which determines a pedal characteristic line, and a third line 24 is connected to a second line 23 between an outlet valve 37 provided in a valve system 16 and assuming an open position in the absence of current and a reservoir 22, the second line 23 being provided with a solenoid-operated second stop valve 46 which assumes a closed position in the absence of current between the connection of the third line 24 and the reservoir 22. A fourth line 26 starting from the second pressure chamber 27 of a master brake cylinder 12 opposite to a pedal is connected to the second line 23 of a brake circuit 11 between the first stop valve 41 and the second stop valve 46, and when a normal brake is effective, the first stop valve 41 assumes the solenoid-operated closed position while the second stop valve 46 assumes the solenoid-operated open position. When an auxiliary brake is effective, both of the stop valves 41, 46 remain in positions which they assume in the absence of current. |
