PURPOSE:To obtain a process for producing ethers in high efficiency at a low cost by the reaction of olefins with water. CONSTITUTION:An olefin is reacted with water in the presence of a heteropolyacid catalyst. The heteropolyacid preferably contains tungsten or molybdenum as the poly-atom and phosphorus or silicon as the hetero-atom.
