<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a new benzimidazole derivative, having strong antagonistic actions on cholecystokinin(CCK) receptors and useful as a preventing and therapeutic agent for diseases such as irritable colitis, biliary dyskinesia or acute pancreatis. CONSTITUTION:This benzimidazole derivative is expressed by formula I [R is a halogen; R<1> is carboxyl or a 2-5C alkoxycarbonyl; R<2> is H or a 1-9C alkyl; A is carboxyl, a 2-5C alkoxycarbonyl, carbamoyl (which may be substituted with an alkyl) or a hydroxyalkyl; (m) is 1-2] and its pharmacologically ethoxycarbonylpentyl)carbamoyl]propyl]-5,6-dichlorobenzimidazole. The compound expressed by formula I is obtained by treating a benzimidazole derivative expressed by formula II (R<4> is a protecting group) with an acid such as trifluoroacetic acid, as necessary, esterifying the resultant compound with an alcohol expressed by the formula R<5>OH (R<5> is an alkyl) and, as necessary, hydrolyzing the resultant ester under alkaline conditions.</p> |
