PURPOSE:To provide an acupuncture apparatus capable of applying physical and thermal stimuli simultaneously to TSUBO (tender but effective spot for acupuncture treatment) rapidly at optional depths so as to enhance the treatment effect. CONSTITUTION:Electrodes 2 and 3 can be connected to a DC power supply source for generating direct current so that the magnitude of DC current flowing between the electrodes 2 and 3 via a human body can be displayed by a meter 12 and a speaker 15, enabling rapid detection of the location of each TSUBO. By turning a switch 9 at hand, the connection of the electrode 2 being in contact with an acupuncture needle hitting at TSUBO is switched over to a high-frequency oscillater circuit 5 and a high frequency amplifier circuit 6 so that high frequency current can flow to the needle for a predetermined length of time set by a timer 7; in this way, a physical stimulus by the needle and a thermal stimulus due to the heat generated by high frequency current are applied to TSUBO simultaneously and rapidly. In acupuncture treatment, the depth of treatment applied being changeable depending on the way in which the needle is inserted, a thermal stimulus can be applied to TSUBO at an optional depth.
